Brazil joins the Hague System for International Design Protection
新闻 | 01.08.2023
As of August 1, 2023, Brazil has officially become a member of the Hague Agreement on the international registration of industrial designs, making it the second Latin American country - after Mexico - to join the system.
The Hague System, now encompassing 96 countries, allows applicants to register industrial designs in multiple jurisdictions through a single application, using one language and paying one set of fees, simplifying and streamlining the protection process worldwide.
Brazil’s accession comes with certain declarations, including the requirement to name the designer - though a standard statement is sufficient - and a maximum design protection term of 25 years, in line with Brazilian law.
