A resourceful biotechnologist with a keen interest in intellectual property
Dr. Annette Strege’s technical expertise stems from investigating diverse aspects of protein science in numerous research projects. Annette is particularly experienced in molecular biology, protein engineering, protein expression in a range of host organisms and protein purification. She draws on this know-how from her time in research in order to protect and manage intellectual property in diagnostics, therapeutics, cell culture technology, protein production and chromatography. Working with a variety of clients from industry and academia in areas such as human and animal health, biotechnology and consumer goods, Annette specialises in prosecution and oppositions at the EPO, freedom to operate and patent drafting.
During the 17 years she spent at international schools and universities in the UK, Annette learned to naturally communicate with people from a range of backgrounds in different languages from a young age. Having returned to her home country of Germany, she further pursues her passion for working in an international environment at HOFFMANN EITLE by advising clients around the world - including in Japan, the United States and Europe.
Prior to joining HOFFMANN EITLE, Annette completed her PhD at the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology, University of Cambridge, UK. She co-authored numerous scientific publications.
In her spare time, Annette practices yoga and enjoys exploring the Alps.
