Stephan Wickles, a German and European Patent Attorney is a member of the Biotechnology practice group specialising on biologicals. He has gained experience in examination as well as opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office, particularly in the fields of protein-based therapy and stem cell applications. Drafting of patent applications for clients both in academia and industry is also part of his skill set.
Prior to joining HOFFMANN EITLE in 2016, Stephan, having gained a scholarship from the Leibnitz University Hannover, studied Life Science at said university as well as the University College Dublin. As a member of the Fast Track program at the International Max Planck Research School for Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences (IMPRS-LS) at the MPI of Biochemistry and the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (LMU), Stephan received his Ph.D. with summa cum laude in the field of structural biology, elucidating membrane protein synthesis using cryo-electron microscopy. For his performance Stephan was awarded the Römer price for excellent research and his work was published in several publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Outside of work, Stephan enjoys in the nearby mountains and lakes combining relaxing and exciting activities, spiced with culinary delights.
