A passionate engineer who genuinely cares about the success of the client’s business
William Liu graduated with an MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London in 2012 and went on to complete a PhD in the field of wireless communications at Imperial College London. His doctoral thesis focused on network coding for the wireless physical layer, resulting in several publications in high-impact factor IEEE journals. Owing to his research background, William has particular technical expertise in the areas of wireless networks, lattice codes, error correction codes and OFDM transmission technologies, and keenly follows developments in these fields.
After joining the patent profession in 2017, William has handled applications across a broad range of engineering areas including telecommunications, signal processing, software and medical devices. William has also acquired significant experience in drafting new applications, particularly in the areas of ocular imaging, imaging processing, Advance Driver Assistance Systems, switched-mode power supply and power engineering. In addition to drafting new patent applications, William has considerable experience in prosecuting patent applications through to grant before the European Patent Office, as well as advising on questions of infringement and validity.
William has a strong mathematical background that makes him well-equipped to handle complex and highly mathematical inventions in areas such as signal processing and machine learning.
In his spare time, William enjoys reading and learning languages.
