Relentlessly determined to help you succeed
Alistair Russell aspires to be a trusted advisor to his clients, providing clear and commercially relevant advice and working creatively, collaboratively and intensively to identify the most promising solutions to deliver positive outcomes. Since joining the profession with HOFFMANN EITLE in 2002, Alistair has served domestic and international clients of all sizes across diverse technologies. He is continuously seeking to learn and to adapt in order to pre-empt, meet and exceed the evolving and diverse needs, demands and expectations of his clients.
Alistair is a veteran of post-grant opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office, working with clients to identify and implement the optimal strategy for each case and representing them zealously in oral proceedings. Alistair’s practice also involves advising clients on portfolio management and the prosecution of applications before the EPO and national patent offices; and opinion work concerning patent validity and infringement, freedom-to-operate studies and M&A due diligence. He is experienced in original drafting, coordinating patent prosecution in multiple jurisdictions, and advising on such issues as the UK Patent Box, and multinational litigation strategy.
Before joining HOFFMANN EITLE, Alistair studied general engineering at Cambridge University for four years, specialising in fluid mechanics and aeronautics. His practice covers a wide variety of mechanical and related technology, with particular experience in the fields of aerospace, automotive engineering, medical surgical devices, oil exploration and recovery methods and equipment, electromechanical printing devices, and metal packaging technology.
Outside work, Alistair enjoys holidays with his family; sometimes playing, but mainly watching, sports; and the Warhammer 40,000™ hobby.
