Carla Roth is a partner in HOFFMANN EITLE's Biotechnology practice group and a passionate patent attorney. She specializes in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, and pharmaceuticals, with a particular focus on protein therapeutics and second medical uses. Her opposition experience in the antibody field includes blockbuster products such as Rituximab, Trastuzumab, Pertuzumab, and Adalimumab, as well as epitope-targeted claims, bispecific antibodies, antibody glycosylation, recombinant expression technologies, and purification methods.

Other key aspects of her work include drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting freedom-to-operate analyses, and handling patent litigation and nullity proceedings.

Carla studied biology with a focus on molecular biology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, and pharmacology at the University of Cologne. She began her career in intellectual property law in 2000 and joined HOFFMANN EITLE in 2025 after spending 18 years as a partner at another renowned law firm.
