Lorenz von Kurowski, German and European Patent Attorney, is a partner at HOFFMANN EITLE in the Electrical Engineering and Digital Technologies practice group.
Lorenz has been with HOFFMANN EITLE since 1996 and has gained ample experience in pre- and post-grant patent proceedings, particularly in the fields of mobile communications, software-based systems, optoelectronics, and satellite-based navigation, as well as medical electronics and image processing. He also advises clients in licensing and litigation proceedings, with a focus on the standardization of mobile communication systems up to 5G. Lorenz places great value on closely assisting clients in the process of developing efficient patent strategies, including invention harvesting and tailoring protective rights to suit the client's needs.
Before joining HOFFMANN EITLE, Lorenz studied Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich with an emphasis on communications and control engineering. After graduating, Lorenz gained several years of experience as a research engineer in industrial research and development (R&D) in Princeton, USA, in cooperation with Princeton University, focusing on image analysis for ultrasound and NMR systems. During this period, Lorenz also pursued his doctorate degree, awarded from Ruhr University Bochum.
In his free time, Lorenz can be found sailing, windsurfing or skiing.
