From Inventor to Patent Attorney

Working as a patent professional for many years with a variety of international clients from the chemical industry, Wilko Regenhardt has considerable experience in handling patent matters. His expertise lies primarily in examination, opposition and appeal proceedings before the European and German Patent Offices. His technical areas of expertise include organic chemistry, polymers, semiconductors, ceramics and metallurgy.

Before joining HOFFMANN EITLE, Wilko completed his doctoral thesis at the Institute of Organic Chemistry of Clausthal University of Technology. During his studies, he had research stays at the University of Salford, Manchester, UK, and the University of California, Irvine, USA. He went on to work as a research scientist in an interdisciplinary team at Jenapharm GmbH & Co. KG, where he was involved in the synthesis and screening of steroidal drug candidates for, inter alia, the treatment of breast cancer and prostate cancer.

Having been an inventor, Wilko is able to see things from his clients’ perspective and has a good understanding of their specific needs. His broad technical knowledge and strategic thinking help him to always find the optimal solution in each individual case depending on the client’s wishes and demands.

In his spare time, Wilko enjoys hiking and cycling. He also has a great passion for football and loves to be part of the supporting crowd in the stands at live football matches.
