A strong team player with many skills
Chris Furlong, Chartered British Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney, is a partner in HOFFMANN EITLE’s mechanical engineering practice group.
After a brief period of work in industry, Chris joined HOFFMANN EITLE to train and become a patent attorney and has enjoyed doing so now for more than 30 years in patent prosecution, opposition and litigation proceedings for clients from throughout the world and in many diverse mechanical and applied physics fields including automotive and medical devices, optics, hygiene and paper products and heavy industry machinery.
Chris is of Irish and German background and obtained his mechanical engineering degree in Dublin before working in industry in Germany and then going on to qualify as a European Patent Attorney in the HOFFMANN EITLE Munich office, his present base, and as a Chartered British Patent Attorney during a period working in the London office. Chris speaks fluent English and German and has been involved and sometimes even pleaded as a Chartered British Patent Attorney in German patent court proceedings when involved in pan-European or global litigation.
Clients value Chris’ multi-facetted background as a great benefit for their patent matters at the interface between different legal systems, languages and technologies.
When not in the office or at court, you will find Chris either enjoying doing something with his family, ice-climbing up a frozen waterfall or getting covered in oil working on his old-timer cars.
