Working in HOFFMANN EITLE’s chemistry practice group for over a decade, Jens Graeber is experienced in navigating the intricacies of the European patent system, focussing mainly on prosecution and opposition work.
Jens enjoyed academic training in the fields of chemical engineering and chemistry, with the focus of his Ph.D. work lying in the area of synthetic organic chemistry. He enjoys making use of the full range of skills gained thereby by attending to cases belonging to a variety of technical fields, such as polymers, battery technology, consumer health, pharmaceuticals and organic chemistry. Jens enjoys problem solving and figuring out how things work, and cases involving chemical or mathematical formulas usually are a welcome distraction for him. He also enjoys working on interdisciplinary cases with colleagues from HOFFMANN EITLE’s other departments.
Prior to following the path to becoming a patent attorney Jens spent an extended period of time living and working in the United States, most notably in New York City. During this time, he worked as an educator and as an IT-systems engineer. The international environment at HOFFMANN EITLE and the equally diverse range of clients being served, including individuals as well as large corporations located nearby and in countries far away, reminds him of these earlier experiences and serves as a regular source of motivation. Jens has been with HOFFMANN EITLE since 2009. He passed his German and European qualifications in 2012 and occupies the position of Associate Partner since 2018.
The bulk of Jens’ work is carried out in German and English. However, he also is proficient in French and is an independent user of the Italian language.
In his spare time Jens regularly is out and about, visiting friends or discovering new travel destinations, but also exploring his hometown Munich. When not on the road, he enjoys practicing his baking skills.
