Lee Julia Bartsch is part of the biotechnology practice group of HOFFMANN EITLE and is currently training to become a German and European Patent Attorney. With her background in the biological sciences, she has a broad technical knowledge in the fields of microbiology, virology and sequencing technologies. Her focus areas are patent prosecution and opposition proceedings at the European Patent Office (EPO). She also assists in the drafting of patent applications.
Having spent many years abroad, Julia enjoys the international environment at HOFFMANN EITLE and collaborating and advising a variety of international clients including from Asia, the United States, and Europe.
Julia studied biological sciences (BSc) at the University of Heidelberg and virology (MSc) at Imperial College London. She gained practical experiences during her exchange year in South Korea as well as during her time at the Technical University of Munich, where she conducted research in the field of bacteriophages and medical diagnostics. Prior to joining HOFFMANN EITLE in 2023, she spent her PhD at the Free University Berlin and the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, focusing on metagenomics, sequencing and food safety.
Outside of work, Julia likes to rediscover her hometown of Munich, plan her next trip to Seoul and bake.
