Yiming Fang is a qualified Chinese patent attorney, specializing in 3GPP standard-essential patents, as well as patents in the fields of electronics and software before the European Patent Office (EPO).
Before joining HOFFMANN EITLE, Yiming conducted research in the design of RF chip circuits at Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan, earning his master's degree. He also obtained his bachelor's degree in Electronic Science and Technology from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in China. Furthermore, Yiming served as an automotive chip engineer at a leading semiconductor company in Japan.
Yiming then became a Chinese patent attorney, gaining experience in handling patent applications, particularly drafting, prosecution, and licensing evaluation of SEPs at a Chinese patent law firm. He also earned his LL.M. degree at the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC) in Germany, with a focus on studying European and U.S. patent, competition, copyright, and trademark law.
Due to his experiences studying and working in China, Japan, and Europe, he is fluent in Chinese, Japanese, and English, which allows him to serve clients from around the world and collaborate effectively with local representatives.
In his free time, he is passionate about sports.
