Prior to joining HOFFMANN EITLE, Michaela Weigel-Krusemarck studied physics at the University of Bayreuth and the University of Exeter (2002-2008). While this broad background allows Michaela to advise in various technical fields, Michaela has specific experience in cryogenics, given her one year’s experimental work and final thesis on superconductivity.
Michaela also has a focus on medical physics and medical devices, as Michaela did her Ph.D. thesis at the Institute of Medical Physics at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg on dedicated computed tomography of the female breast.
Besides examination and opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office and the German Patent and Trademark Office, Michaela handles appeal and nullity proceedings before the Federal Patent Court and the Federal Court of Justice in Germany. Michaela’s work includes infringement proceedings before the civil courts in Germany, also as part of cross-boarder litigation. Michaela regularly provides FTO/infringement and invalidity opinions.
Michaela enjoys working with clients from all over the world and has experience in patent prosecution in other jurisdictions, as she has been responsible for the worldwide portfolio of several clients.
In her spare time, Michaela enjoys exploring the nearby Alps on skis, by bike or by foot.
